Accessibility

Last updated: October 30, 2026. We want everyone to be able to use this site, including the calculator and the count demo. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and the same goes for the OverRack software as it's built.

What's in place

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
  • One heading hierarchy per page; the main menu is a labeled navigation region with a menu button that announces whether it's open.
  • The calculator's results are a live region, so a screen reader announces the verdict and the numbers when an input changes. Every input has a label and a written hint; nothing depends on color alone.
  • The count demo is marked as an image with a description, and its figures (items counted, per-rack progress, items below minimum) are text next to it. With "reduce motion" switched on, it shows the finished count instead of animating.
  • Text and background colors meet AA contrast. Pages reflow at 400% zoom and on 320-pixel screens without sideways scrolling, except tables, which scroll inside their box.
  • Photographs carry no information that isn't in the text; each has a description.

What isn't perfect

  • The demo floor plan is a drawing: the counts are read out, but which bin is which isn't.
  • The app mock-ups on the software page are pictures with descriptions, not working screens.
  • The FAQ uses native disclosure widgets; some older browsers don't announce their open state.
